You volunteer to be locked inside Darwin's 97 Seven studios with a ransom on your head. To earn your release from the Dungeon of Darkness into the comfortable, well catered Haven of Hope, you’ll text, post on social media, and rally friends and colleagues to donate towards your ransom total.
WE ARE THE LIGHT
Two verses for dark days.
For weeks, the headlines have warned of "dark days ahead" for everyday Australians. Follow the news long enough and it's hard to disagree — the cost of living, loneliness, conflict overseas, division at home. Even within the Christian community, the shadows feel longer than they used to.
But two verses keep coming back to me. In John 8:12, Jesus declares, "I am the light of the world." And in Matthew 5:14-16, He turns to you and me and says, we are the light of the world. Everyone deserves a source of light — and across the Top End, you and I are the ones called to carry it.
MULTIPLIED LIGHT
One candle pushes back the darkness. Thousands make it flee.
Light a single candle and the darkness retreats a little. But stand shoulder to shoulder with hundreds — even thousands — of other light-bearers, and the darkness flees altogether.
That's the picture I'm praying for this June. God, you, and Darwin's 97 Seven, in partnership — strengthening the beacon that already reaches into homes, cars and hearts across Darwin, Palmerston and beyond. Whatever the size of your gift, it joins with thousands of others to shine a light that simply cannot be ignored.
